The Muir Trust Artist in Residence, 2017
James Fox, textile artist
Inspired by social history and art objects within the museum collection, James created pieces that relate to Liberty fabrics, motifs from Bucks lace, and local and national history.
James works mostly with machine embroidery and the process of reverse applique.
James created a large ‘Liberty’ hanging using Liberty fabrics and motifs from Bucks lace. The threads from the hanging were woven around a large bobbin decorated with images of local brickwork and historical plaques.
He also produced a pair of lino cut prints:
- John Wilkes, Lord Mayor of London 1774-1775
- Boris Johnson, Mayor of London 2008-2016
